Out of all the seasons, the summer-to-fall "season" may just be the most difficult to dress for. Days are hot, evenings are a little cool, and yet every store front is pushing chunky knits and fall booties. Sartorially speaking, clothing for the season ahead tends to arrive early. This is just how the fashion world works. However, we know the struggle of in-between dressing, and trying to decipher what is best to buy now, and what to hold out for, especially being based out of Southern California, where our fall season is quite short, usually only revealing itself in mid-October.
August is the kind of "in-between" month we are talking about. Mastering outfits between now and mid-September is like juggling seasons. Summer trends are still fresh on our mind, and taking on new fall styles can be tricky to transition into easily. It is all about finding that perfect "comfortable-cute" look.
Our rule of thumb is this:
Start small. Buy that maxi dress that will be cool and breezy now, yet will look super chic with a leather jacket and booties later. Or, snag those cute black jeans you are lusting after. You can wear them with a cute cami and sandals now, but can pair your fresh fall sweater and thigh-high boots with them in the coming months.
To maximize your wardrobe even more, we have pulled together some looks to inspire your trans-seasonal dressing. From dresses to jeans, perfect your new-season outfits by taking note from the pros below.
Sandals make this look summery. Try heeled booties and a leather jacket for evening.
A long sleeve maxi dress will take you from season to season effortlessly.
Dark florals are the perfect transitioning pattern.
Leopard Print EVERYTHING
Animal prints are a huge trend now, and will be even more so in fall. These pants are the perfect "now-and-later" style.
Hello, perfect transitional style!
Big sleeves are here to stay. Elevate your denim with a puff sleeve top and mules.
Timeless stripes and stone-wash denim: this is the ultimate trans-seasonal look.
Cutoffs will keep you cool and comfortable in this ultra-modern getup. The tailored blazer and sleek black booties ground this look.
Breezy knits have been a chic summer style. Pair your favorite warm-weather jumpsuit with a sleek moto jacket and slides in the coming months.
We are still obsessing over polka dots. This is the perfect getup to wear now and for seasons to come.
A simple black tee will help you easily transition your summer jumpsuit to fall.
